National Anthem

E Ihowa Atua
O ngā iwi mātou rā,
āta whakarongo na;
Me aroha noa.
Kia hua ko te pai;
Kia tau tō atawhai;
Manaakitia mai
Aotearoa.
God of nations at thy feet
in the bonds of love we meet.
Hear our voices, we entreat,
God defend our free land.
Guard Pacific’s triple star
From the shafts of strife and war,
Make her praises heard afar,
God defend New Zealand

My Narrative

One glorious afternoon our  family had set off to the beach to enjoy  our  family time together. While we were at the beach we started to set up food on the BBQ so we could start cooking the food. The BBQ was as hot as ten ovens.  While  we were waiting for the food to be cooked we played a fun game of  volley ball .

A few minutes later  everybody gathered around  the table as the food was ready.  My dad had to pray for the food as it got to the  end of the prayer we all sat down and started to plate our food. The  food was delicious and  mangoes.  After was our dessert, we had ice cream and chocolate cake.  At the  of  the feed, we had a game of rugby.

We finally left the beach and everyone felt so tired from eating all that yummy food and playing those games.

Rubbish Dumping

Are you scared you might get arrested for littering? In my neighbourhood people are dropping rubbish on the ground. I feel strongly that it should stop because it is going to look like a rubbish dump as well as polluting our community.  It is illegal to dump rubbish on any public or private land without permission. I believe that the police should have surveillance cameras everywhere and especially public areas.  I know that the people of New Zealand can put their own rubbish in the bin.

First of all, we need to show the world that we have a clean and healthy environment to live in and that will also attract more tourists where I feel that will definitely better our economics.

In addition, I believe that the police should have surveillance cameras everywhere. So we can catch the people who litters and give them a $500.00 dollar fine.

Furthermore, by law if you dump rubbish in public or on private land, the possible charge that the mayor could give you is $1000.00   But they still do it because they think that it is okay to dump rubbish anywhere and everywhere.

Finally, I can assure you that people can help each other to keep New Zealand clean.
I believe that the people of New Zealand can put their own rubbish in the bin.  Just imagine what it would be like to live in such a litter free country.  Everyone will live healthy and most of all will probably live longer.Please help me stamp out polluting our environment.

Softball Recount

Today my classroom and I had a  session of softball with two sporty instructors from Auckland sport. This morning the instructors said that we would be learning how  to roll, catch and throw the ball.

First we had a warm up game call Octopus so that when we begin our lesson we would be warm to start our learning skills.

Then we had a game that involved our whole classroom.  The instructors were willing to see who can go the farest with catching the ball and to throw the ball back to their partner. Who ever was the farest was the champion of the game. But we were not allowed to pass it to your partner or else you would have to stand where you finished of so that the instructors can see who are the top three.

The top three teams was Lisiate and Nathaniel, Christian and Siupeli and Moli and myself. The first team to start of was Christian and Siupeli. Second was Moli and myself. Then went Nathaniel and Lisiate. In the first round Moli and I got eliminated from the challenge. It was now the second round. The last two teams were trying very hard to see who would win. After Siupeli and Christian and Nathaniel and Lisiate finish their round the instructors decided that the winners were Lisiate and Nathaniel.

Even though Moli and I lost we still felt intense because we never wanted to play softball just to win. We wanted to play softball to become a champion at learning how to play sports like softball.

My Holiday Recount

It was a cold and dark night  and  it was my brother in law’s birthday. First we gathered up the family so we could pray for the food and his birthday.Then we brought the cake in so he could blew the candle out and to cut it then we sang the happy birthday song.

After the song we all walked to the kitchen and sat down at the table and ate the food. Later on, after dinner we ran to the cars  then we drove to the Tenpin bowling. At Tenpin bowling there were no lanes left for us so we had to wait until 8 o'clock.
While we waited for a lane  we played a game of pool table, it was fantastic and everyone had fun. Finally we got to play bowling and  it was as fun as riding a rocket. The ball rolled as fast as a cheater  hunting for meat.

At the end, I felt so excited and very tired that I wanted to go to sleep.  But when we got home we went back to the kitchen and ate some more food and the leftover birthday cake.

The scary sound

It was a cold and dark night . There lived a boy named  Jack. Jack said, “to his  mum did you hear that scary sound"Jack rushed down the  stairs  to see what made that sound.

Then Jack hurried up stairs to his mum and said,”  mum I'm so scared can I sleep with you to night, mum said, “yes”.

Later on that night Jack heard the same sound he heard before he woke up his mum  if they could go down stairs to see what made the same sound so they ran down stairs as fast as a racing car.His mum said to jack”No it’s not a scary sound it’s just a man cutting a  tree down.Oh! Jack said to himself.

A little while later Mum said to Jack,” “next time you hear something you have to just look out the window to see what makes a scary sound like that”. Do not be afraid.

Finding the Perimeter of 2D shapes

WALT find the Perimeter of 2D shapes

Formulae:

Perimeter of a Square = side + side + side + side or 4 x side
Example: The perimeter of a square of side  5cm = 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 20 cm or 4 x 5 = 20 cm

Find the perimeter of the following squares:

The perimeter of a square of side  10cm =  40cm
The perimeter of a square of side  25cm = 100cm
The perimeter of a square of side  5m =20m
The perimeter of a square of side  50m =200m
The perimeter of a square of side  1km =400km

Perimeter of a Rectangle = length + width + length + width or 2 x l + 2 x w
Example: The perimeter of a rectangle whose length is 6cm and width is 4cm = 6 + 4 + 6 + 4 = 20 cm or 2 x 6 + 2 x 4= 12 + 8 = 20 cm

Find the perimeter of the following rectangles whose lengths and widths are given below:

Rectangle 1 - length is 8cm and width is 5cm
Perimeter = 26cm

Rectangle 2 - length is 10cm and width is 7cm
Perimeter = 34cm

Rectangle 3 - length is 8m and width is 6m
Perimeter = 28cm

Rectangle 4 - length is 16m and width is 10m
Perimeter = 52m

Rectangle 5 - length is 4km and width is 2km
Perimeter = 12 km

Evaluation: Today I learnt to find the Perimeter of
2D shapes

Machines at M.O.T.A.T

My MOTAT Trip Recount

We went to M.O.T.A.T to learn about simple machines.
Our tour guide was  Melissa.

At M.O.T.A.T we first looked at a car engine. Then we looked at  some other machines that make electricity and steam.

Then we went to the Simple Machines room. In the room we pulled Mrs Raj up on a pulley. Mrs Raj thought that we could not pull her up but we did! Then we moved on to our next activity.

After that we went on our tram ride.   During the tram ride, the captain was giving us  information  about the tram that we were on. He said  the tram that we were on was made in 1974 and some other trams were made in 1902.

After our tram ride Melissa took us upstairs  and showed us lots of simple  machines like ones that can hold doors. During our lesson Melissa set us a challenge . Each  group had to build our  own simple machines. I took photos  of all the simple machine at the end of our lesson.  Then we had to  take our simple machines apart .

The last activity we were allowed to participate in was the mirror maze, it was a confusing activity.

Then we went outside to see the new exhibits such as military trucks and guns.

It was an awesome day for me and my favourite activity was the mirror maze. I would like to thank the M.O.T.A.T people for the  the wonderful displays  .

Thank you
